PEAK - This slaps, yeah there's some absolutely rage bait moments, and there's times when you may get bored or frustrated but trust me, stick it out, also do as muhc of the side content as possible, you will not regret it! This game is a commitment though so be prepared, but it is so worth it. One of my top recommendations.Updated 1.5 Weeks Ago

Yakuza 0 takes a little time to get going, but once it does, it completely pulls you in. What starts as a slow burn quickly turns into one of the most addictive RPG experiences I’ve ever had.The side content is where the game shines. The Cabaret Club is hands down one of the best mini-games in a video game. Between that, the goofy side quests, and all the other distractions, it’s easy to lose track of the main story.
Because the main story is fantastic, it's packed with emotion, great twists, and characters that feel real. Every major character is well-written and memorable. If you’ve never tried a Yakuza game, this is the perfect place to start.

Peak game, but not being able to start a new game+ on legend made the legend run very annoying. Also sadly this game only allows you to save in specific spots at payphones, which is really unconvienient and sometimes it doesnt save for some reason (???). Anyways this is one of the best games in the series: the story is great, even though the pacing is kinda meh at the start. The side content, especially the substoires is great and there is a lot of fun things to do (as long you dont try to do the completion list, then its just pure suffering). Highly recommend this game to anyone starting their journey with the yakuza series.Updated 2.5 Months Ago

Bom jogo! Updated 2.5 Months Ago

Whacky AND serious?Good
- The story and characters carries the game. The progression is done masterfully. The game teases pieces of the puzzle, but never gives you a clear picture as to where the story is headed. Then near the later half of the game, connections are slowly made. It kept me interested the whole time.
- aesthetically, the amount of detail in the city is astonishing. Walking in the convenient stores feels exactly the same as walking into a real one in Japan. Even the items you can buy are replicated. The solicitation from pretty girls on the streets in the party district is accurate. The streets and building design felt on point.
- This is the only game where they were successfully able to make the theme very serious, but at the same time, very silly. It made the game truly a unique experience. I loved how whacky some of the sub stories were. They acted as the perfect comic relief.
- the characters and voice acting were phenomenal. I can say that every character was memorable. I grew to love Majima and Kiryu, and what they fought for, and the the friends and foes they met along the way.
Bad
- The combat is not designed well. It consists of mostly button mashing. I cleared the game with literally one combo with both Kiryu and Majima, and constantly healing with items.

Yakuza zero is the king of action and drama. It feels like a soap opera and an anime. The gameplay feels kinda of like a beat em up game but in 3d. There are a ton of goofy side quests. My favorites are teaching the dominatrix how to be assertive and majima pretending to be someone’s boyfriend. The story has so many twists and turns and Makoto really goes through it in this game. The things that detract from this game are the stealth sections with Majima and the car sequence with kiryu.Updated 3 Months Ago

Almost everything was greatThe sub stories were mostly really good but there are a bit too many of them.
Majima seemed really serious but after playing Kiwami 1 and 2 you understand that it was not his real personality.
Very nice to see bonding moments between Kiryu and Nishiki.
Pocket Circuit Fighter is a Virgin.
And Nuggets is the best Real Estate manager.
Also the beginning of the best mini game (Cabaret Club).

still an absolutely fantastic game, this review is after my fourth replay, having already 100%ed the game before. it is the perfect introduction to the yakuza/like a dragon series, and showcases rgg studio's ability to create believable, grounded worlds so well. this game features an inordinate amount of side content, with a vast majority of which being of a very high quality. only a select few items of side content outstay their welcome - however this is content you can choose not to engage with at all.
the action combat is great, with refined combos and systems which feel great to master. it has some issues with balancing the effectiveness of some combat styles against others, but it's nothing egregious. the heat system used in this game is, in my opinion worse than other games, but it's something new and interesting, and it doesn't stick around for later games.
the story and characters are the best i've seen so far in this franchise - their ability to pull off retroactive writing (for kiryu, nishiki, and majima's backstory) is phenomenally well done, considering the need to keep things consistent with later entries in the timeline which were written without this game in mind. it would be nice to see more from this time period in regards to kiryu's origins, however the depth to which majima and his progression into madness is presented more than makes up for that. the characters unique to this prequel game are additionally some of the best in the series, with lee, makoto, and tachibana all being standouts.
overall a phenomenal game which goes for a steal of a price very frequently, it's more than worth your time!! 9.6/10.

Amazing story, a roller coaster of emotions, hilarious at times, sorrowful in other. This game is like a big movie, time flew by so quick while playing it.The world is very immersive, with loads of details bringing us to the old Japanese streets such as colorful neons, stores and food.
You play as 2 different protagonists, well-written with intense back story and character development. Each of them has unique ways to fight with pure fun moves. I enjoyed Majima more for the way he evolves during this game and for his dirty fighting styles, but Kiryu has so much charisma, I can't wait to meet them again in future games.
There are a lot of things to do besides the story if you're into this.
Now I understand why this franchise is so popular, i'm totally hooked and will for sure play the next ones in the franchise.

Yakuza 0 is more than just a game; it’s an immersive journey through the bustling streets of 1980s Japan, filled with drama, intrigue, and unhinged fun.Story & Characters:
The game tells the origin stories of series protagonists Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima. The narrative seamlessly blends intense crime drama with heartfelt moments, making every cutscene feel like a gripping crime film. Both characters are brilliantly fleshed out, and seeing Majima’s transformation from a tortured club manager to the Mad Dog of Shimano is a highlight.
Gameplay:
The combat system is pure exhilaration, allowing you to switch between fighting styles on the fly. Whether you’re breaking bones with Kiryu’s Brawler style or dancing with Majima’s Breaker moves, every battle feels satisfying. Plus, there’s no shortage of side activities — karaoke, pocket circuit racing, real estate management, cabaret club running — it’s packed with variety.
Atmosphere:
The attention to detail in Kamurocho and Sotenbori is astounding. Neon-lit alleys, bustling arcades, and the eclectic mix of residents bring the cities to life. The retro Japanese aesthetic truly pulls you into the era.
Final Thoughts:
It’s rare to find a game that balances serious storytelling with outlandish humor so well. From the emotional weight of Kiryu’s struggles to Majima’s chaotic energy, Yakuza 0 never stops surprising you. If you haven’t played it yet, you’re missing out on one of the most unique gaming experiences out there.

Updated 5 Months Ago

Not sure how this will compare to the Yakuza 0: Directors cut coming out next month but i say it was a pretty good experience for what it is now. The main story drama is solid, the side stories are quirky with lots of side content to mess with. The combat is decent but can be frustrating at times especially since the camera is not the best and seems to make dodging base on the camera position rather than character along with a low angle view. The mini games can be hit and miss at times with how they feel, which can be annoying for the more challenging parts if you aim for a more completionist run. Lastly you wont be able to fully fill out the ability charts without delving into the business side content deeply but it is not necessary to finish the game at all.Updated 5 Months Ago

I’m not really an action/beat ‘em up player so I was a bit nervous getting into this series. Part of me wanted to jump straight into Yakuza: Like A Dragon but I’m stubborn in that I really want to experience as much as I can from a series. There was a good chunk of the middle where I switched to EASY before I realized I had the “Charismatic Autobiography” accessory equipped. I was relieved to learn I’m not THAT bad at these games.
I didn’t spend too much time in the mini games but I got really into the cabaret club management sim way more than I thought I would. I think I’ll go back to play some mahjong. I've been meaning to learn for years to play with my mom and aunts.
I actually grew really attached to Majima more than Kiryu. His combat styles were more fun for me and I enjoyed his story with Makoto so I'm a little sad he's not playable in most of the other Yakuza games. At least I have Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii to look forward to.
This game's got the vibes, the side stories crack me up and the main story had some great twists that kept me beelining the last few chapters. I even ended up enjoying the combat a lot even if it’s normally not my usual genre of games.
I was originally just going to jump to Yakuza: Like A Dragon after this but now I’m committed to at least playing through Kiwami and Kiwami 2 (apparently has a Majima side story). We’ll see from there.

Its a very fun action game with fun combos and 3 playstyles to switch between. I went into this game thinking Yakuza/Like a dragon games are more comedic, instead I came out with a heart wrenching story with various deaths, and broken men instead. The funny content still exists in the game as the side stories, while I didn't do many side stories only 30/120, the ones I did were all funny if not simple on gameplay. The only new game mode types were a cabaret club / real estate management (depending on the character) and the cat fight (rock paper scissors with half naked women). The constant switching between the characters was also a strange choice. I would've preferred if they took the same approach Nier Automata did by doing a portion of the story as each character and doing the rest of the game switching in between the 2. Overall I found myself enjoying Majimas story way more. I knew him as a crazy psycho but to see that he was actually a very sensible man was a shock and a welcome. Additionally of the 2 I preferred Majima due to his "breaker" fight style. It was also very interesting to play as Kiryu. Only thing I know about Yakuza 1 (or Kiwami 1) is that Nishki and Kiryu stop being friends so it was interesting to see how important that friendship was before it goes to shit.Updated 6.5 Months Ago

This game had an awesome story with great character development. There are two main characters, Kiryu and Majima that you change between every two chapters. This kept me engaged throughout the entire game.I loved being able to explore the cities of Sentenbori and Kamurocho. The side quests were filled with tons of humor. I surprisingly really liked managing the different real estate properties and building up the cabaret club.
The biggest weakness I would say is that the combat and random game encounters become overwhelming. The combat isn't very fun when you keep running into Yakuza battles. I wish there was a option to run from these encounters or turn them off entirely.
The progression system in terms of enhancing the characters combat stats is okay. Nothing new, but encourages trying to earn more money to buy new abilities on the sphere grid.
Some of the mini games had unskable cutscenes which make retries a bit cumbersome.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with the game. This was the second Yakuza game I have played, the first being Yakuza Kiwami. Kiwami had better combat, but this one has a much better story. In the end I would say I like this one more.
