The gameplay, soundtrack, and graphics are absolutely amazing, especially the graphics, which impress me the most. Considering this game is almost 20 years old, the buildings and overall scenery are astonishing. As for the story… all I can say is meh, haha. The game just ends abruptly, and we’re expected to believe everything turned out fine. The story definitely leaves much to be desired, but everything else still makes it a great game. Huge kudos to everyone... except maybe the story writer, haha.

Mirror's Edge was one of the games that I backlogged for a long while and finally decided to pick up one day. It was much much more shorter than I anticipated and that's actually one of the huge flaws of this game. The pacing felt horrible, everything happens in an instant in the story and there are huge gaps left and skipped without much explanation. Characters are pretty much thrown into the scenes without any introduction and no connection to them can be established due to poor writing. Celeste just existed for about 3-4 minutes in the game and there was no real depth between her and other characters so her betrayal didn't even feel like a betrayal because I didn't even know her enough to see her as a friend to Faith. The game throws some random cutscenes and says "just so you know this happened for some reason I guess", then it acts like we know the characters' backgrounds and what happened between gaps. The ending is straight up bad, I've been chased down this whole game and had a final confrontation, but I saved my sister and now we'll act like everything is normal again and we'll look at the city meanwhile the men who pointed their guns at me are still in the same area and we can be shot down any minute! I actually got very pissed, because there is no ground set up for a sequel and literally nothing is even done in the background. Celeste is still alive, Runners are still in danger, we don't even know what happened to Miller, we are still seen as terrorists. But the game acts like we just got a happy ending. It's just a huge disappointment tbh. Gameplay wise, while the parkour has a lot of mechanics and usually fun, there are some instances that Faith absolutely rejects to hold onto anything, even the red objects that she SHOULD be holding onto. There were times that she could absolutely hold a ledge after a jump with built up momentum, but she just decides not to and only wants to do it by just jumping after standing next to the object. The levels with a lot of guns blazing on me were the most frustrating thing in this game. I'm trying to run away and I'm shot down by 5 men, I'm trying to run to one of them so I can take his gun and shoot others, but I die to his 3 bullets while running. Except these two combat and parkour flaws, the overall flow of the gameplay was alright and that's the only reason I'm giving this game a 5 at most.

I think this is a good game, but it's flaws are really clear and in the open. Starting with the good, the parkour and running feels really great. It's super satisfying to pull of these crazy jumps and stunts. My main problems with it lie in the combat, which is slow and more of a pain to deal with than any fun. Most enemies can kill you in like 3 shots which gets annoying, and there are a few times where it's unavoidable. The story wasn't too special, but I really loved the animated cutscenes. They were very stylized and looked really cool. I think that sharp style really fits well with the world of Mirror's Edge.Updated 3 Months Ago

A very euphoric game that sets a great atmosphere. The parkour is done very well as is the first person mode itself. It's a short game but in this case that is a go do thing because there is not a ton of variability to the game so it would get boring the longer it goes on. The weak point o the game is that the plot is predictable and the actual combat isn't very fulfilling. Parkour itself is where the game shines; however, most of what you do is in a very linear path so there isn't much chance to actually explore. Still it is a solid game for the price and is worth its time.Updated 3.5 Months Ago

Mirror's Edge is a game I can't get into for the life of me, I like games like Prince of Persia, Jumping Flash, Titanfall 2, and even it's much more divisive sequel Catalyst but this game I always start but always get frustrated and then eventually stop playing and could never see through to the end despite how short this game is. This was the furthest I ever got into the game and I got up to the penultimate level but I just give up, every time I play it, I get super annoyed by its design quirks. I always wanted to beat this game since I got it for free on PS3 back when EA gave it out without any charge digitally during the Playstation Experience back in 2014, but as a free game, I still can't beat it, and I will go into more detail3D platforming is hard enough as it is and 3D platforming with the first person perspective is even harder, its hard for it not become a game of being painfully automated where it feels like the game is controlling itself with barely any input. With all that said, my biggest issue with the game is that even though the game is said to be short, I spent a lot of time dying and reloading levels over and over again due to two big issues. Runner's Vision and the first person perspective, in fact both work in tandem to counteract any fun I could be having from this game. The biggest issue with Runner's Vision is that is it's basically a complete and utter farce. The game will highlight level progressing platforms in red but the thing is, this only works about half the time, the game will never highlight madatory level interactive object in red fast enough or efficently enough to the point where you feel like the badass parkour enthuasist the game's marketing shows her to be. A lot of the time, my time was spent bumbling around the level dying dozens of times, since I didn't know where I was supposed to go and partner that with the first person perspective where depth perception with platforming is harder to judge of how far I can jump and if I can reach it and it's one of the most frustrating 7th gen platformers you can find. As much as it pains me to even say I like Uncharted and Assassin's Creed "platforming mechanics" they do feel more consistent and easier to follow than this game's. Prince of Persia reboot from 2008 came out the same year as this game and I feel like that game is much superior to this game since it's in third person and it was easier to tell how far I can land on certain platforms. Sure, this game is derided for being short, but the thing is, if you are playing this game for the first time, without any knowledge of levels or routes and you rely on the Runner's Vision to consistently guide, you can spend hours dying over and over again, and looking up walkthroughs on where you are supposed to go. Catalyst's Runner's Vision is arguably too "hand holdy" but it at least works as a consistent guide compared to the implementation of it in the first game.
Another issue with the game is the combat, I am not sure if EA mandated there was supposed to be combat but whether or not if they did, doesn't make it any less terrible, and the fact you get attacked by so many enemies with hitscan guns just makes the game even more insufferable to play. You will get shot at repeatedly by enemies while you are bumbling around for the first time and it's hard to tell if you are supposed to fight them since the combat feels so terrible since enemies don't react to getting shot and hand to hand combat feels bad since it's a game of disarming them and then hoping you can kill them that you don't want to do it.
At first I thought I could finally beat this game because it checkpoints well and it had an easy mode, but I can't even as a freebie from years ago, I still can't get to the end for the life of me due to all the issues I mentioned. I tried to get into this game, I even enjoyed Catalyst but this first game is a mess.

This is a game I have always been curious about. It’s a classic, and often praised for its originality and bold approach to first person parkour. Now that I’ve finally played it, I can say it was… an experience : One I don’t regret, but definitely one I’m relieved to be done with.Pros :
✅Visually, the game still holds up remarkably well with its striking art direction. The aesthetic is clean and minimalist which gives it a unique identity, even two decades later
✅The parkour is fun (at first) thanks to the variety of movement and the initial rush of fluid navigation
✅Active modding community. Mods help enhance graphics and sound, add new maps
✅High replay value (For players who enjoy mastering routes or speedrunning)
Cons : Unfortunately, the deeper you go, the more frustrating the game becomes.
❌The gameplay breaks down and becomes clunky and janky. Movement stops feeling fluid, and bugs (like missed grabs) ruin key moments
❌The combat is the worst part of the game. The forced fights kill the flow and go against the spirit of parkour.
❌The level design is flawed since it’s often unclear what you’re supposed to interact with or where you’re supposed to go, especially at high speed.
❌Quality of life issues like the lack of a restart function unless you use mods
❌Mediocre story and dull characters
❌Forgettable soundtrack
❌The game can be buggy, and Nvidia 5000 series GPUs aren’t compatible with the outdated 32-bit PhysX
Mirror’s Edge is a brilliant concept that stumbles hard in execution. It’s stylish, unique, and has its moments.. but those are constantly undermined by poor design decisions, bad combat, and clunky mechanics.
I’m glad I played it for the sake of gaming history, but even more glad that it’s over. A short 5 hour'ish ride that’s memorable for both the right and wrong reasons. Difficult to love, easy to shelve.

-74-Well... If you expect only a cool parkour runner, then you'll be surprised by how much combat this game has. Too much. And it doesn't feel good most of the time. The game has quite some ups (e.g. how cool and smooth the running can be and how fun it is, that it is pov, that it has some very creative sides and the change between cutscenes, gameplay and animation films is pretty cool etc) but also downs (unreactive controls in the movement, level design is pretty bad sometimes, very often very narrow passages, story quite unemotionally presented and animations a little clumsy sometimes). For the time it appeared I hugely appreciate it and lots of the things they did or try to do I also hugely appreciate but this game didn't really carry me emotionally or with its flow.

This is THE parkour game. Who knew just traversing levels could be so much fun. Yeah there is technically combat, but it's so more interesting trying to figure out how to get through by just disarming the guards. Then you have the time trials... GOLDEN!When I played through Mirrors Edge, I had a 3-D setup and this was one of the few times where the 3-D truly added something to the game. Jumping from building to building is good enough already, but actually seeing how far down it is if you fall takes your breath away.

I love this game. It used to be one of my favorite games. But now I think I love the 'concept' of the game more than the game itself. The game looks amazing, sounds amazing, and plays amazing. It's a pure burst of creativity and artistic expression. I've seen nothing like this when it came out, and still no other games look like this shiny, sleek, yet sterile urban jungle. The electronic soundtrack also strengthens the inhumane nature of this city, while being a banger. The Parkour gameplay was so innovative that all of the modern games stole it and claimed to be their own. It's really surprising that this game came from DICE and EA, who are the most creatively bankrupt game companies now.
But, while I enjoyed many parts of the game, I was also infuriated for the other parts of the game. I died so many times just for one wrong jump, and had to do the same thing over and over again cause the checkpoint system is very harsh. The mechanics are actually very reliable, but it *feels* clunky, because everything happens in first person perspective. And when you get the hang of it the game's already over.
So, it was worth playing this game once again, but I didn't enjoy it all through. It didn't ruin my love of the game, but it made me realize how my brain washed out all the painful parts from my previous playthroughs so that it'd be a 'perfect game' in hindsight.

Runs buttery smooth but still the PhysX runs awful. Overall, the story is straight forward. Game still looks beautiful. I have never played such parkour game. This is a unique style by EA in its glorious days when things were great from EA. I was so happy to finally be able to beat this game.Updated 10.5 Months Ago

TOP FUN THINGS TO DO:
⭐️ The risky jumps.
⭐️ Constantly being on the run from the blues.
THE UNIQUES:
💎 One of the first Parkour games.
PLAYER GAMING REQUIREMENTS:
💼 Parkour.
💼 Puzzle.
💼 Action.
PROS:
+ The parkour is still one of the best out there.
+ Origin isn't required to play!
+ Constantly feeling like you're on the run.
CONS:
- Game crashes when you alt out.
- Some areas left me frustrated in what I had to do.
- Combat isn't the best.
VERDICT:
Back when EA wasn't a corrupt company, man I miss those days, DICE is another one who sold their souls the the devil, If they went beck to their roots, i'm sure they would find purpose in their games again. Or perhaps they're happy to constantly take peoples money, even if I do dislike what they represent. They made good games back in the 2000's.
Total Score = 75/100.
GAMEPLAY:
Set in a near-future city, it follows the story of Faith Connors, an underground parkour courier who transmits messages while evading government surveillance. To progress through the game, the player must control Faith from a first-person perspective and complete a series of levels that involve performing a sequence of acrobatic manoeuvres, including jumping between rooftops, running across walls, and sliding down zip lines.
